Universal's Islands of Adventure guidemaps
Opening on May 28, 1999, Islands of Adventure became the second theme park to open at Universal Orlando.
Universal's Islands of Adventure is a heavily themed park that focuses on thrilling rides. Be warned - most of the rides in Islands of Adventure are not for the timid.
That being said, if you love steep drops, going upside down many times, spinning, high speeds, and soaking wet experiences, then Islands of Adventure is waiting for you. From roller coasters to simulators to water rides to some sort of combination of all that, Islands of Adventure was almost created exclusively for thrill riders. However, that's not all of Islands of Adventure, and nearly everybody can find fun attractions here.
Islands of Adventure is divided into seven highly themed "islands" surrounding a lagoon: Port of Entry, Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon, Jurassic Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade, The Lost Continent, and Seuss Landing.
It's the latest addition though that put Universal's Islands of Adventure back on the map. In the summer of 2010, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade officially opened, bringing in Harry Potter fans from around the world. The Harry Potter craze gained more momentum with the summer of 2014 opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley in neighboring Universal Studios Florida. The two lands are officially connected with the Hogwarts Express train ride.
Whether you want to feel the rage of the green monster on The Incredible Hulk Coaster, get soaked to the bone on Popeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges, have a close encounter with an angry Tyrannosaurus-rex on Jurassic Park River Adventure, or fly on an adventure with Harry Potter on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Universal's Islands of Adventure has all of that and more!
The adventure begins . . .
