(1949 - present)
Assorted brochures for the Gatorland theme park and wildlife preserve.
Located in southern part of the Orlando, Florida, metro area, Gatorland is a small theme park and wildlife preserve that focuses on alligators and other reptiles. In fact, the park has so many gators that it's billed as the "Alligator Capital of the World."
Gatorland is more of a zoo and nature preserve than an amusement park. Founded in 1949, the park has had a locomotive ride since 1961, and a zip line ride was added in 2011. That's about it though when it comes to rides. At Gatorland, it's all about the alligators as well as birds and reptiles. The park features a boardwalk and observation tower, an aviary, a petting zoo, and various shows involving reptiles as well as classic alligator wrestling.
