Busch Gardens Tampa began as a hospitality facility for the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Tampa. What began as a bird garden slowly expanded into an animal sanctuary and then the addition of thrill rides. As the facility continued to grow and draw in more tourists, the theme park was born.
Operated by SeaWorld Entertainment and majority owned by The Blackstone Group, Busch Gardens Tampa has experienced several name changes throughout its history. The park was originally known as Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, then it changed to Busch Gardens: The Dark Continent, then it was known as Busch Gardens Africa, and today the theme park is called Busch Gardens Tampa.
Today, Busch Gardens Tampa is an incredibly popular thrill park and zoo capable of competing with the Orlando-area theme parks. Located about an hour way from Orlando on Interstate-4, Busch Gardens Tampa is a great getaway and a perfect day trip.
